May 26, – May 31, Location: In Southwest Oklahoma off of I near Lawton. We had heard wonderful things about this refuge and it was a great stopping point for us.

Sites can be on the lake, in the woods or near other campsites, depending on the size of the campground. Tent sites may often have a small electrical hookup, but most of the time, it will be a basic site with a picnic table and firepit. RV and travel trailer sites can have much more. These sites can have shaded awnings, full electric, water and sewer hookups, cable TV, a fire pit and picnic table.
RV parks and resorts, designed solely for RV will be the highest in terms of quality when it comes to camping. These resorts will have cable TV, Internet access, full hook-ups, laundry and nice restroom setups than most campgrounds. State parks, like a national park, will have the most basic amenities, but some may have electric and the occasional water hookup. Most state parks will offer a simple restroom facility, along with a fresh water station and RV dump station.
Another common campground option are state fairgrounds.

The campgrounds of the upper Buffalo River are: These are primitive campgrounds with basic tent site accommodations, including space for up to 3 tents max of 6 peole per site , a picnic table, fire grate and lantern pole. The road is supposed to be one-way with a 5mph speed, but nobody seemed to obey this direction or speed. There were people staying there long-term 1 month and I think people that live there full time as well. We paid for 5 nights, but left after 1. We asked for a refund, they were hesitant. We arrived July 4th, which was a Wednesday this year.
My husband is in a wheelchair. He went most of the way down the road to the boat dock in his electric wheelchair and got stuck and could not get back up, so we told them the park is not friendly for him, and they refunded us a couple of nights. We were fine with that, and moved about a mile up the road to another Campground. You can read my post about them on this site as well. The nice thing about this park is the pool.
We did not actually visit it, but it was hot out, and a lot of people were using it. They also have some cabins, that is what they called them, but looked more like mini-apartments to me for rent.

Romantic Camping in Arkansas Arkansas stretches from the Ozark and Ouachita mountains in the west to the Mississippi Delta in the east. Vast national forests cover portions of the state. It’s not surprising that most of the highest-rated campgrounds in Arkansas are in the mountains and forests, but those rankings focus on amenities and facilities more than on the state’s natural beauty.

Much of these scenic areas are rugged and remote, and the best way to experience them is from the back of a good horse. Members of our local Back Country Horsemen chapters agree as we have all spent many happy hours on horseback exploring along the river and into the deep canyons and dense forests that surround it. Thundering waterfalls, historic old home places, bugling elk, and profusions of wildflowers…from the road you get only a glimpse of these treasures that lie tucked within these hills.
